Day 63-65 Goodbye Argentina

Now with less than 10 days left of the adventure in Southamerica, I headed further north and was about to do the final border crossing from Argentina to Chile – and for now leaving Argentina behind with great memories and experiences.

Argentina proved much better than what I had read and “prepared” so definitely a warm recommendation to this country and it’s hospitality.

Another mountain lake

From Gdor. Costa and Lago Puelo through the 7 Lakes into San Martin de los Andes and now in Chile in the city of Pucon – another adventure center for adrenaline junkies.

Weather was perfect – perhaps slightly to the warm side with tops around 30 degrees. This weather also has a dyrker side – news tells of massive forest fires in Chile with lost lifes and property – and in the area that I need to go through. It’s in the center of the Biobio region and up towards Concepcion so I need to reschedule a bit.

Staying in Pucon a few more days might be the solution as there is so much to see and do here, and then take a long stint towards Santiago.

The three days presented some of the most beautiful parts of Ruta 40 with winding roads, fresh forest smell and ending with another high vulcano on the border to Chile.

Last part of Ruta 40 signed in San Martin de los Andes

During the final few hundreds of kilometers, the route took me and my bike across the 15.000km mark with roughly 2.000km to go. A note to the bike-nerds – still running on the same front tire Mitas E-07 Dakar – impressive, but need to say it now is very close to replacement and somewhat bumby to drive.

Weather kept being nice to me
Some challenging bridges – will it hold
Rest for a snack and drink – with monkey-trees around me

The vulcanos are emitting a bit of smoke – so they are indeed alive.
