Day 47 Marble caves in Rio Tranquillo

This little special post is to give a bit more of the amazing marble caves in Lago Buenos Aries near Rio Tranquillo. Up very early at 4.30 to go 5-6km south of the town and get into the kayaks and 30 minutes later arriving at the wonder.

6 plus the guide and we were the only ones on the lake – alone that was spectacular looking east for the sun to lift above the mountain range. At around 7 you could observe the edge of the sun casting the first rays of light towards the kayaks and the watercut marble. Water was “tranquillo” so even for the Chilean rookies the tour was easy.

I will let the images speak …

Arriving 5am at the kayak place
View towards east – sun up 1 hour later
Heading out
First encounter of the marble caves
Refreshed but …
Sun peaking over the mountains
First rays entering the caves
Water has over thousands of years eroded the marble
Hiding behind the marble structure
And then letting the sun do the work
Heading back … three hours on the lake done
Next set of tourist setting out
