Despite many attempts that failed to plan for a meeting here in Southamerica with Josephine and Mads, it actually succeded.

Driving from Calama to San Pedro de Atacama I knew that the Bolivian tour that they had booked was to return to the bordercrossing Hito Cajón just some 55km and 2.300 meters higher altitude from the town. So I took a chance and drove up to the border, dismounted the bike and 30 seconds later their bus entered the customs section and out came Josephine (pale from 4 days with altitude sickness) and Mads – now that was great timing. Big hugs and tears. I followed the bus down to the town again and just driving down 2.300 meters cured the altitude sickness (expect for the lack of sleep) and her color and spirit came back.

We have now used 4 days together here just relaxing, reading, sharing photos and stories, recharged our batteries, star gazing and celebrating the coming of the new year.

On the 2nd of January I will drive up in the Andes again and enter Argentina, while Josephine and Mads will move to Lima for a few days before returning to Denmark. I now only have 6-7 weeks to go before my return.
Thank you all for the support and the messages around the new year celebrations – Feliz Año Nueva to you all.
🍾Godt Nytår 🎉
